Michael Cromer founded his company which was originally called Michael Cromer München (MCM) in Munich, Germany, in 1976. His company originally designed high-end luxury suitcases and handbags, and the brand became very popular during the1980s. At its peak, Cromer’s company owned 250 outlets. The MCM brand’s signature logo is printed on many of its products on material called Cognac Visetos. Many designs also include a brass plate with an identifying number which further added to the brand’s uniqueness and prestige.
In 2005 the worldwide rights to the MCM brand were acquired by a Korean retail company called Sungjoo Group. The brand’s product line has since grown significantly and includes luggage, handbags, backpacks, shoes, eyewear, and other accessories.
